Middle States Accreditation Celebration

Our Lady of  Mount Carmel School set the goal in September 2002 to strive to attain accreditation by the Commission of Elementary Schools of the Middle States Commission of Schools.  What started as an aspiration has turned into full-fledged reality.

On November 11, 2005 Our Lady of Mount Carmel School received our certificate of accreditation.

To celebrate this accomplishment the principal, staff,  clergy, parents, families, and friends gathered for an assembly coordinated by our Music teacher.  The school band opened the ceremony with "When the Saints Come Marching In".  The ceremony began with a prayer, the salute to the flag and the singing of the nation anthem led by our Kindergarten class.  The principal spoke about the significance of accreditation.  "When you go looking for a high school or college, you wouldn't choose one that wasn't accredited.  It's a mark of excellence."  He then invited all the eighth grade students to come forward and introduced them as the first graduation class from an accredited Our Lady of Mount Carmel School.

To celebrate the rich diversity of the student body at Out Lady of Mount Carmel, a parade of nations included students bearing the flags of the 38 nations representing the cultural and national backgrounds of our students marched around the Parish Center accompanied by the singing of the school choir.

The finale of the celebration was the unfurling of the Middle States banner that will hang in the school to attest to this very significant accomplishment.

Each member of the student body, faculty and staff received a tee shirt donated by the Home School Association proudly proclaiming "Middle States Accredited November 2005."
