Catholic High School Admissions Process

All students applying to a Catholic High School in the Archdiocese of Newark should plan to take the COOP Exam (Cooperative Admissions Examination Program) on Friday, November 10, 2006. COOP applications are available at all Catholic elementary and high schools through the diocese.

1. Obtain COOP Exam application (available at OLMC or area Catholic High Schools).

2. Attend local High School Night to learn more about area high schools. Visit schools during Open House or spend time as Freshman-for-a-day.

3. Complete application and submit with fee. (OLMC students will submit their applications to their teacher. Public school students may submit the application online at http://www2.ctb.com/state/NJ/coop/ or mail application to CTB/McGraw-Hill.)

4. Have elementary school complete Ninth Grade Applicant Record forms and submit to area high schools.

5. Test Day - November 10, 2006. Remember to bring Admissions Card to test site.

6. Continue to study and perform to the best of your ability. Continue to visit area high schools.

7. Evaluate your options upon receipt of your acceptance letters.

8. Register for Catholic High School.

9. Meet all deadlines at area high schools for placement testing, financial aid applications, summer enrichment programs, sports tryouts, etc.

October 6, 2006	Catholic School students return their applications to their elementary schools.
October 13, 2006	Catholic elementary schools send their application to CTB/McGraw-Hill for processing.
October 18, 2006	Extended Testing Time accommodation applications due at Archdiocesan Office of the Superintendent
October 20, 2006	Public school students' applications due at CTB/McGraw-Hill.
October 27-31, 2006	Admission cards mailed to Catholic elementary schools
October 27-31, 2006	Admission cards mailed to public school students.
November 10, 2006	COOP test administered at area high school test sites.
November 18, 2006	Make-up COOP test administered at select test sites.
December 1, 2006	Ninth Grade Applicant Records due at area high schools.
January 18, 2007	Acceptance Letters mailed to students.
January 18, 2007	Home Reports mailed to public school students.
January 22, 2007	COOP results delivered to Catholic school principals.
February 3, 2007	Registration at area high schools for the Class of 2010.
